PPG has partnered with ScienceFest (“VedaFest”), the largest open-air science event in Czechia, which took place this week in Prague. The company provided hands-on workshops at the event as part of its commitment to inspire young people with an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.

“At PPG, we have enthusiastic chemists and engineers who were intrigued by these fields in their youth and inspired to go on to technical colleges and universities,” said Jan Sipan, PPG sales director, Czechia, Architectural Coatings. “I firmly believe that our partnership with ScienceFest sparked the curiosity of even the youngest visitors.”

As the main partner, PPG aimed to inspire young minds through interactive experiments, hands-on activities, and demonstrations. Visitors had the opportunity to explore water repellency, make color-changing fabrics, develop “blue” photos using a cyanotype process, experiment with glowing solutions, and more. All the experiments were created in collaboration with Czech firm CF Plus Chemicals and its “Chemistry and Light” kit.

Visitors also had the chance to watch Czech artist Klaudie Svrckova capture experiences on canvas during the festival using PRIMALEX™ paints by PPG. The artwork was created for the House of Children and Youth of the Capital Prague, which organizes the ScienceFest.

“ScienceFest is entering its second decade, which undoubtedly shows its popularity,” said Libor Bezdek, director of the House of Children and Youth of the Capital Prague. “This year we prepared surprises and new attractions for all curious visitors and we are glad that many important companies joined ScienceFest.”
